This oil painting is in memory of Jet and his daughter Sydney(in the painting), that were the loving labs of Hillary and Linda Simon. Linda's nephews' and nieces' knew right away that the man spreading the cement was their Grandpa Light. Always wearing his favorite color shirt, and Syracuse University hat, this is a scene that they have seen their Grandfather do many times. There is always a story to Linda's paintings and this painting was not a exception. This naughty dog scene brought back memories of one bad spring day. Linda's lab, and her sisters lab were visiting and playing outside Linda's childhood home, as they had many times before. The dogs not knowing that the pool was no longer frozen... ran across it! As a result the dogs were being swallowed by the pool cover as they fought to try and get out! All in a panic, Linda pulled the dogs out just in time and saved them from drowning. Art played a big role for Ms. Simon very early on in her life. Linda made use to all that was offered in High School, she took Mechanical drawing, a two year trade school commercial art program, and almost triple majored in Art. Her artist influences include Norman Rockwell, Edgar Degas, Renoir and Nicolas Poussin's "Adoration of the Shepherds". Linda has quality, Contemporary Fine Art based on the enduring aesthetic principles of the old masters, using faces of her family, pets, and dear friends holding hints of Linda's life. Ms. Simon works predominately in non-traditional oils(non-toxic), incorporating pure pigments in her glazing, she also is accomplished in paper maché, clay, charcoal, color pencil, scratch board, pastels, ceramics,...
