Dandelions are dabbled like gold in the fields and greet the mature seasonal corn crop. On the Amish farm, shocks of wheat have been stacked upright in a field for drying. The landscape along the Tioughnioga River is marked by rolling, wooded hills, deep stream valleys, and fertile soil. A dutch amish community have migrated north from Pennsylvania to Ms. Simon's childhood home in Central New York. The giggling girls are having a dandy day, jumping in the mud created from a rain shower the day before. The girls have not stopped to think about what their parents are going to voice about the soiling of their hand made clothing. As the Amish have a saying "one for wash, one for wear, one for dress and one for spare." This scene is a reminder of happy memories for the artist Linda Simon and her daughter Hillary. When her daughter was little, she and her friends would jump in the puddles of rain and squeal with joy. Make crowns out of dandelion chains and rub their cheeks making yellow flow...
Art played a big role for Ms. Simon very early on in her life. Linda made use to all that was offered in High School, she took Mechanical drawing, a two year trade school commercial art program, and almost triple majored in Art. Her artist influences include Norman Rockwell, Edgar Degas, Renoir and Nicolas Poussin's "Adoration of the Shepherds". Linda has quality, Contemporary Fine Art based on the enduring aesthetic principles of the old masters, using faces of her family, pets, and dear friends holding hints of Linda's life. Ms. Simon works predominately in non-traditional oils(non-toxic), incorporating pure pigments in her glazing, she also is accomplished in paper maché, clay, charcoal, color pencil, scratch board, pastels, ceramics,...
