This acrylic painting was created in 1999 for Linda's nephew Derrek, 10 years old at the time. He's now is a Senior in college and plays baseball as a catcher. Ms. Simon's reference for "Derrek's Homerun" was the first issue of the magazine- Sports Illustrated! The famous baseball player, Eddie Mathews of the Milwaukee Braves at the plate at Milwaukee County Stadium, graces the 1954 black and white cover. A giclee print of "Derrek's Homerun", 3ft x 5ft is displayed on the set of TV pilot "Danni Lowinski" show! Linda's family are often the lucky recipients of her subject matter! Art played a big role for Ms. Simon very early on in her life. Linda made use to all that was offered in High School, she took Mechanical drawing, a two year trade school commercial art program, and almost triple majored in Art. Her artist influences include Norman Rockwell, Edgar Degas, Renoir and Nicolas Poussin's "Adoration of the Shepherds". Linda has quality, Contemporary Fine Art based on the enduring aesthetic principles of the old masters, using faces of her family, pets, and dear friends holding hints of Linda's life. Ms. Simon works predominately in non-traditional oils(non-toxic), incorporating pure pigments in her glazing, she also is accomplished in paper mach, clay, charcoal, color pencil, scratch board, pastels, ceramics,...
